Cupcake — Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 21, 2026

Cupcake is an app brought to you by Practical Path.

The short version

Cupcake has no account, no analytics, and no ads. Your recipes, formulas, orders, costs, and settings stay on your device. Two things can leave the device, and only when you ask: a licence check when you activate Pro, and an optional AI feature if you have added your own Gemini key.

Data stored on your device

Recipes, formulas, variants, bake-day plans, orders, price-book entries, inventory, and your settings are stored locally. We do not run a server that holds this data. Uninstalling the app removes it from that device. Use the in-app backup if you want a copy first.

Licence key

The Windows app unlocks Pro with a licence key from your order receipt. When you tap Activate, the app sends that key and this computer's name to Lemon Squeezy (their privacy policy) so the key can be checked and tied to this computer. The key is then saved on the device. The app does not contact the licence server again on later launches, so Pro keeps working offline. Deactivate sends the key once more, to free that computer.

A key works on two computers. We do not receive your card number. Lemon Squeezy processes the Windows payment. If you later buy the Android version, Google Play processes that payment.

Optional AI features

AI is off unless you add your own Google Gemini API key under More. When you use a scan, a look-up, nutrition, or a similar AI action, the recipe text or photo you chose is sent to Google's Gemini API with that key. Import from a link fetches the page address you paste. If you never add a key and never import a link, those requests are not made. Practical Path does not receive the key or the recipe.

What we do not do

No account. No sign-in. No analytics. No advertising. No third-party tracking. We do not sell data.

Children

Cupcake is a tool for bakers. It is not directed at children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date above and post the revised version here.
